When Portuguese bank Banco Espírito Santo (BES) decided to communicate a business opportunity to owners of solar-powered houses, it did so with a 'solar-powered' piece of direct mail.
Proximity Portugal designed a blank letter 'charged' by the sun rays landed on homeowners' doorstep. The aim was to encourage people to take up the bank's financing facility for this group of homeowners, who can sell on the energy they generate to the public utilities network.
