Giles Bancroft, business development and account manager for MP services at the Conservative Party, asks how MPs can make the best use of the parliamentary allowance available to them to communicate with their constituents and overcome voter apathy.

Our team of experts from Royal Mail, Ipsos MORI and Cosmogirl magazine come up with solutions ranging from email newsletters and online questionnaires, to targeted door-drops using Royal Mail's Boundary Match and good old-fashioned personal contact.

To engage the youth market, MPs could also set up a MySpace site, develop an interactive game on a credible website, or create a forum on a popular local website such as habbo.co.uk.
