TREES direct mail case study

Big business generates a vast amount of paper waste, and despite good intentions, many employees fail to recycle paper. Arc Worldwide's campaign for non-profit environmental organisation Treat Every Environment Special (TREES) chose an apt medium – paper – to convey the recycling message.
Finance and HR directors were sent a direct mailer containing a letter and useful stickers to put on their photocopiers that urged people to 'use both sides and recycle afterwards'. The message was easily duplicated on every piece of paper that passed through the machine.
The mailer was sent to fewer than 200 companies in Malaysia, but visits to the TREES website increased by 68% in the first three months of the campaign, with 113 of the firms reporting that they'd saved an average of 17% on paper costs.
