Have you noticed a pixelated square box increasingly appearing on the envelopes you receive through the mail? Maybe you’ve spotted it on posters and other printed material?
It’s not some retro nod to space invaders nor some ‘big brother is watching you’ tool. What you are looking at is a QR or ‘quick response’ code, otherwise known as a 2D barcode.
You can read our five-minute guide to QR codes here.
QR codes have been around for a number of years but are increasingly becoming a hot ticket for marketers.
They allow for a convenient and user friendly way of communicating lengthy and complicated URLs in one easy image.
The creation of QR codes, that can then be used in marketing mail collateral, is a quick and easy process thanks to a number of online generators.
Put ‘QR code generator’ into Google and you’ll be faced with 108,000,000 results!
Enter in the required information, press return and be met with an instantaneous result.
Even better still for marketers, is the fact that there is no shortage of free tools.
