Sensational: Harnessing the power of the senses to create brand connections

Author: BRAND Sense
Date: 01 June 2008

In an age of visual overload, businesses are tapping in to the power of all the senses to create brand connections with consumers. This presentation outlines the advantages of using sensory mail, which engages with individuals through smell, touch, sound and even taste.

BRAND sense research also reveals that smell comes second in sensory importance after sight, but on average companies spend just 1.9% on it.

Here are some surprising findings:

• Some 83% of all information people receive is visual, but the sense of smell emotionally affects humans up to 75% more than any other sense.

• Our mood will increase by up to 29% if we are exposed to a positive tactile feeling, 23% if we are exposed to a positive taste, and 65% if we are exposed to a positive sound.
